We are seeking a safety conscious Crane operator for our Site in West Musgrave.

This is a Fifo position working on a 2:1 roster.

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to safely operate and maintain mobile cranes for the unload of initial installation of structural steel, mechanical componentry to green and brown field construction sites and will include the assembling and installation of rigging gear such as cables, ropes, pulleys and winches to lift, lower, move or position machinery, structural steel and other heavy objects.

This position will also be required to assist with a range of other tasks under the direction of the Crane Supervisor and Site manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-start checks before use to ensure safety compliance.
  • Control the movement of loads from the ground (using radio Comms) into position under the direction of the rigging supervisor.
  • Monitoring plant operation, instruments and gauges to detect malfunctions and problems.
  • Plan, secure and move loads whilst ensuring stability of load.
  • Study drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures.
  • Erect structural steel for buildings or plants under construction using EWP or WAH.
  • Select, inspect, maintain and repair material and tools.
  • Co-ordinate transport of equipment to site as necessary.
  • Set up work front assess loads for rigging work.
  • Plan, secure and move loads whilst ensuring stability of load.
  • Examine objects to be moved, estimate their size, shape and weight and decide on the type of rigging required.
  • Erect cranes and mobile crane booms, increase the height of tower cranes by bolting component parts in place and rigging cables.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by complying with site and company policies and procedures.
  • Working at height and in confined spaces.
  • Prepares Job Hazard Analysis for tasks in each workplace.
  • Undertakes Take 5 to review work process on daily basis.
  • Understands proper usage of ladders and platforms in work place.
  • Operates EWP or scissor lift to work above ground level.
  • Has certificates competencies and VOC’s for operation of equipment.
  • Assisting in a range of other tasks relating to your skill set outlined in your application and under the direction of the Site Manager and/or relevant Supervisors.
  • Willingness to do general yard duties when required
