What’s on Offer
About the Role
The Briars is one of the largest properties owned and run by the Mornington Peninsula Shire. The site covers 230 hectares incorporating bushland, farmland, and a State significant heritage precinct. Nine staff and over 50 volunteers maintain and develop the Briars, which welcomes over 200,000 guests per year, making it one of the most visited destinations on the peninsula.
The Destination Conservation & Operations Ranger will undertake tasks which improve the safety and amenity of the site. With qualifications and/or experience in land management and/or horticulture, the incumbent will support the management of the Briars Homestead Gardens, grounds, and conservation areas to create an exceptional and safe visitor experience.
Interpersonal skills are a must, as many of the tasks undertaken occur in the visitor space, giving the incumbent the opportunity to engage visitors in their daily work and to schedule tasks with consideration of the visitor experience. Delivering experiences which connect visitors to the sites heritage and land management techniques will make this an exciting and varied role.
Overseeing the daily tasks of volunteers, where appropriate, will be a part of this role.
The Briars is a small team, the members of which pitch in to help each other as required. The successful incumbent will share similar values to the team, supporting staff, volunteers, and tenants to deliver the best possible experience for visitors.
