Westgate Community Initiatives Group Ltd. (WCIG) is an established, not for profit organisation that is committed to creating practical responses to unemployment and disadvantage across Melbourne and Geelong. Our mission is to empower people to achieve a meaningful role in society. 

We are a registered NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) provider with over 30 years’ experience in supporting individuals with a disability. We support people with psychosocial, intellectual and physical disabilities in maintaining their independence and to gain equal access to services. We have a new opportunity for a Support Coordinator to join our team on a permanent part-time basis at 0.8 FTE (flexibility to work 30.4 hours across 4 or 5 days, with the potential of moving to full-time hours pending operational requirements). The successful candidate must be available to start 3 January 2024

This role is predominantly work from home if this suits you; however, travel in the community to meet our participants, service providers and relevant community organisations will be required, as well as travel to WCIG offices.

As a member of the WCIG Support Coordination team, you will bring your previous experience, extensive NDIS knowledge and passion to work alongside participants while supporting them to implement their plans. You will be working closely alongside participants and their families to develop a person-centred approach, with the aim of building capacity for participants to independently manage their barriers and supports.

The role:

  • Business development and marketing our service in the community to link with new participants, service providers, local organisations and government agencies
  • Coordinate and implement holistic services related to housing, education and health, NDIS supports and specialist services for individuals with a wide range of disabilities 
  • Research and manage a range of support options to suit individual needs across multiple service providers within budget 
  • Obtain quotes for services and organise service agreements
  • Progress reports and recommendations on appropriate supports for future plans are communicated to the NDIA in a timely manner
  • Monitor monthly billing and track billable hours
  • Advocate and promote community inclusion and person centred supports
  • Understanding of NDIS guidelines and processes is essential to provide advice and consultation to participants and their families, and ensure compliance and quality service standards are met

 

About you:

  • Current Australian driver’s licence is essential 
  • Current Working with Children’s Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check or ability to obtain both prior to commencement is essential 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in case management, disability or community services is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the disability sector will be highly regarded
  • Excellent communication skills and the natural ability to build rapport easily and connect with others is essential 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to coordinate person-centred plans
  • Genuine desire to enhance the lives of individuals living with a disability and to provide high quality care
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities
