Westgate Community Initiatives Group Ltd (WCIG) is a community based not for profit organisation that is committed to creating practical responses to unemployment and disadvantage across Melbourne and Geelong. Our mission is to empower people to achieve a meaningful role in society.

Our Transition to Work (TtW) program delivers tailored employment and education support to young people aged 15-24, who are at risk of long-term unemployment in the North-Western Melbourne/Barwon Employment Regions. We work towards the same, purpose-led goal of improving lives through dignity and choice. 

The result of this mindset speaks for itself: due to program growth, we have a newly created opportunity for an experienced business development professional to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

Previous experience in employer engagement/marketing/business development or similar is essentialApplicants must be familiar with the region and be able to connect with employers and young people in the North-Western Melbourne Region.

The role:

  • High level communication and customer engagement skills are essential to secure paid employment, work experience and volunteer opportunities for program participants
  • Proactively engage in business development activities to grow your network of employers and market TtW services and participants to employers to strengthen commercial viability of the program
  • Promote theTtW program by coordinating all aspects of virtual events and social functions, and attending meetings, conferences and networking events
  • Engage with schools and local youth organisations to promote TtW and conduct candidate sourcing activities 
  • Proactively engage, consult and communicate with community stakeholders through presentations, community activities, group facilitation and partnership building
  • Liaise with employers and key industry stakeholders to understand operational and staffing needs
  • Conduct business research, generate leads and plan and develop a strategic regional database of key accounts
  • Actively foster and support mentoring opportunities for young people and employers
  • Manage bulk/high volume recruitment projects for employers, ensuring vacancies are filled within required timeframes
  • Coordinate and manage the pre-employment and onboarding processes as needed

 

About you:

  • Prior experience in account management/marketing/business development or similar is essential
  • Current Driver’s licence and Working with Children’s Check card (or ability to obtain one prior to commencement) is essential
  • Qualifications and relevant experience in Youth or Employment Services or related discipline will be highly regarded
  • Ability to meet and exceed KPIs is second nature, as is your commitment to delivering quality services 
  • Experience in working with young people from CALD and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds will be highly regarded
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for developing and strengthening key stakeholder relationships, and negotiating successful participant outcomes
  • Genuine passion for advocating for and empowering marginalised youth
