Westgate Community Initiatives Group Ltd. (WCIG) is an established, not for profit organisation that is committed to creating practical responses to unemployment and disadvantage across Melbourne and Geelong. Our mission is to empower people to achieve a meaningful role in society.

Our Transition to Work (TtW) program delivers tailored employment and education support to young people aged 15-24, who are at risk of long-term unemployment in the North-Western Melbourne/Barwon Employment Regions. We work towards the same, purpose-led goal of improving lives through dignity and choice. 

The result of this mindset speaks for itself: due to ongoing program growth, we have two new opportunities for experienced Site Managers to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. One position will be overseeing Broadmeadows and the other will be managing our sites in Craigieburn and Sunbury.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, this is a strategic management position that has responsibility for the daily operations and leadership of the TtW initiatives at their site. Previous experience working within the Employment/Youth sector is essentialApplicants must be familiar with the region and be able to connect with employers and young people in the North-Western Melbourne Employment Region.

 The role:

  • Build a high performing culture by developing the potential of your team through coaching and mentoring
  • Meeting and exceeding site KPIs, contractual obligations and organisational objectives
  • Driving business development to grow your network and direct registrations, and facilitate successful placements
  • Strategic approach to planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing all aspects of service delivery per contract guidelines to achieve optimal participant outcomes at your site
  • Financial literacy is essential, as you will assist in budget review and forecasting to ensure financial viability of the program
  • Actively engage with key community and employer stakeholders to form strategic partnerships
  • Liaise with community-based organisations and government departments to identify current gaps and needs, and identify potential growth areas
  • Implementing a TtW service model that focusses on a strengths-based approach to case management supports 
  • Foster and support mentoring opportunities for young people and employers
  • Manage audit requirements and implement corrective actions as needed to meet compliance frameworks and standards

 

 About you:

  • Qualifications and relevant management experience in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Community/Employment Services (DES, jobactive, Workforce Australia Services) or related discipline are essential
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a high performing team is required 
  • Current driver’s licence and Working with Children’s Check card (or ability to obtain one prior to commencement) is essential
  • Understanding and cultural sensitivity towards people from CALD and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds will be highly regarded
  • Extensive knowledge of the local labour market and issues that affect participant engagement with education and employment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for developing and strengthening relationships with new and existing partner organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to recognise risks and implement contingency measures to alleviate them
