The role

Due to the continued growth of the HUB24 group and our in house Legal team, we have a newly created opportunity for a Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel to join the business.

You will be supporting the HUB24 business, providing legal advice in respect of superannuation and financial services law and provide advice in relation to general commercial law, as well as data, technology and privacy law. The role is both advisory and transactional – noting there is a lot of contract work and contract negotiation.

We are looking for a lawyer who will work in a collaborative environment, has high level technical skills combined with commercial acumen so they can partner with commercial stakeholders at all levels and work with them and provide sound legal advice and guidance.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment making things happen. You will be working closely with business partners and the rest of the legal team.

Key responsibilities

• Advising on a broad range of matters including financial services law, with a focus on investments, platforms and funds.
• Participation in commercial transactions and providing legal services on those transactions and managing external legal service providers.
• Structuring, drafting and leading negotiations on a variety of commercial contracts.
• Law reform and regulatory compliance, as required.
• Legal and regulatory risk management.
• Management of external legal providers.

Key skills required 

• At least 3 + years’ post qualification experience across financial services (investments / platforms experience is preferred but not essential)
• Top-tier / mid-tier law firm and transactional experience is highly regarded.
• Excellent influencing skills, including with senior stakeholders and an ability to create and build effective working relationships with colleagues, business and functional teams.
• Strong experience reviewing and drafting a range of contractual documents and legal correspondence.
• Excellent time management skills, practical solutions focus and history of providing excellent customer service.
