Scone Grammar School is seeking a 0.8 FTE Part-Time English as an Additional Language (EALD) Class Teacher for our Secondary School commencing 24 January 2024.

Role Description, Skills and Abilities:

The EALD Teacher is a role encompassing responsibility for the curriculum and teaching of students in the Senior School.  

This role requires the ability to collaborate and actively engage in faculty, whole school, and community initiatives. You should have a strong commitment to pastoral care and participation in extra-curricular activities.

Understanding and practice in planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality learning experiences and possess active listening skills to build positive relationships with all stakeholders. 

Creating an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse students is a key aspect of this role. You should have strong organisational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant Tertiary Degree qualification and current NESA registration
  • Undertake such other duties as may be required by the Principal
  • Demonstrate at all times active support of the School Aims and Objectives, Policies and Practices
  • Create a learning environment that stimulates learning, promotes excellence and accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported
  • Identify learning needs, conferring with specialist staff
  • Present and explain criteria for assessment to students in advance
  • Provide timely and useful feedback about completed assessment items to students.
  • Share explicitly with students the expectation of a code of conduct that enables all students to work productively and receive a fair share of teacher attention.
  • Communicate in a clear, respectful and professional way in order to optimise each student’s development;
  • Maintain professional confidentiality on information about students and their families;
  • Be proficient in the use of ICT as a teaching and administrative tool.
  • Willingness to engage in co-curricular activities, contribute to school decision-making processes, and pursue ongoing professional development is also expected.
     


The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, Drivers Licence and undertake a pre-employment National Police Check (Newcastle Anglican will consider the relevance of any reported outcomes) and will be committed to our school values and proactively contribute to our SGS team.
