Scotch Oakburn College is an independent, co-educational, open-entry day and boarding school, providing world class education to approximately 1,300 students, from Early Learning to Year 12.  Through the provision of academic, pastoral, and co-curricular programs, the College provides a holistic education designed to prepare students for the future.

The College operates across three campuses, with the Junior School and Boarding House on the Elphin Campus, located just a short drive from the Middle School and Senior School located on the Penquite Campus, both in the eastern suburbs of Launceston.  It also operates an Outdoor Education Centre from its third campus in the Fingal Valley, located an hour from Launceston.

We are seeking to employ two Counsellors.  One to be based at our Junior School and the other at our Middle School.  Commencing on 24 January 2024, these positions are both full-time during academic and professional learning weeks, however, the College is open to applications for part-time hours and/or flexible work arrangements.

Focused on social and emotional learning and wellbeing of students, these roles support the delivery of wellbeing programs and counselling support for Early Learning to Year 5 students and Years 6 to 8.  As members of the College’s broader Wellbeing Team, the counsellors will ensure the consistent application of policies, strategic frameworks, and practices, as they relate to student learning and development. 

Formal counselling qualifications required, with degree in Psychology highly favourable, or alternatively a qualification in Education with appropriate counselling qualifications.
