About the role:

The key purpose of the Career Development Officer role is to facilitate targeted support services for Jobs and Skills Aboriginal support services contract and exceed performance targets set by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.

This will be done through:

  • Advice or information given to an organisation client regarding their Aboriginal employees, and ways to build a culturally aware and inclusive workplace
  • Advice and information about course options and apprenticeships/traineeships to individual clients
  • Assistance to individual JSC (Jobs and Skills Centre) clients with practical job search and job application support to prepare them for the world of work
  • Support to clients to prepare for employment and training
  • Advice and/or information to organisations about recruitment practices
  • Providing information about apprenticeships/traineeship including referrals to appropriate government and other relevant stakeholders
  • Delivery of workshops to secondary school students and/or teachers and/or VET coordinators and/or non-school based workshops
  • Establishment and maintenance of relationships by the JSC with relevant stakeholders including education to stakeholders to increase knowledge of JSC services and activities
  • Assisting organisations to plan and develop their workforce (JSC will assist organisations to access a range of resources and information to better plan, attract, develop, and retain a skilled workforce)

About you:

  • Certificate IV in Career Development and Employment Services (desirable)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
