Aboriginal Medical Service Co-operative Redfern

The Aboriginal Medical Service Redfern (AMS) was established in 1971 and was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) in Australia. We are a multi-disciplinary health care facility with Medical, Chronic Care, Drug & Alcohol, Mental Health, Dental and Public Health units. We work together to provide a high level of patient care whilst servicing our local community needs.

We are seeking an Exercise Physiologist to work in conjunction with a small multi-disciplinary team to deliver culturally appropriate physical health education and tailored exercise sessions, including chronic disease self-management and rehabilitation. 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • current registration with ARHRA with at least a tertiary degree and qualified as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with membership and accreditation through Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
  • the ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and function in accordance with legislation affecting exercise physiology practice for maintenance of accreditation with ESSA
  • experience in providing assessment, intervention and case management of clients
  • experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable
  • minimum 1 year's experience as a clinician working in chronic disease management settings.
  • current C Class Drivers License (NSW) – essential
