Senior HSE Officer

Your Position

Reporting into our various sites, the primary purpose of this role is to support each site in the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of our safety management system, programs and initiatives to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel. You will be reporting directly to the HSE Manager.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide support, coordination and advice of HSE practices, systems and procedures within multiple defined workplaces.

  • Administer education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within multiple defined workplaces.

  • Initiate and coordinate accredited training programs for occupational health and safety committee members and first aid officers

  • Conduct risk assessments, HSE audits and inspections

  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of site safety documentation 

  • Provide direction and support to both Project and Service Teams alike to develop and implement adequate HSE systems and programs within multiple defined workplaces

  • Implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health and safety.

  • Coordinate and conduct investigations to find the causes and identify mitigation strategies to prevent re-occurrence, which may include liaison with regulatory officials.

  • To provide HSE specialist advice and technical input to material handling systems design and layout, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations/risks are identified and communicated appropriately

  • Conduct return-to-work coordinator activities

About You

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent

  • Cert IV in TAE

  • Construction HSE experience (3+ years)

  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)

  • First Aid Certificate

  • RTW Coordinator Certificate

  • Experience in WH&S/HSE management techniques and tools

  • Strong knowledge of applicable safety legislation, codes, and Australian Standards

  • Ability to plan, organize, and supervise HSE operations including conducting and interpreting audits, risk assessments, and reviews

  • Willingness and ability to travel (predominantly in Victoria, but abroad as well) and stay on site during week, business hours, etc.

  • Strong written, verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, and problem-solving skills
