Cityfields is a unique, European-inspired eatery utilizing wood fired cookery, set to become a destination restaurant in the Melbourne food scene. This is an opportunity to be a senior member of one of the hottest new restaurants of 2023 and work with an awarded team in a new kitchen and premium fit out.

Your role

To effectively and efficiently deliver kitchen services at Cityfields and assist Senior Chefs in leading the team and ensuring that all organisational standards, quality control and relevant compliance requirements are met.

• Assisting with the training of  kitchen staff and ensuring they deliver on quality control
• Ensure food purchasing, preparation and cooking is completed daily and in line with the quality standards including:
  • Submitting all food purchasing requirements to the Executive Chef/Senior Sous Chef
  • Checking the quality of food delivered and ensuring all products are stored correctly and safely
  • Overseeing direct reports to ensure all food is prepared daily
• Carry out and ensuring food safety compliance at all times including:
• Maintaining food safety policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with kitchen staff and front of house staff
• Working effectively with other departments and divisions
• Keep up-to-date with relevant internal and external changes including: policies, procedures, food safety and WH&S

Your skills

• Extensive cooking experience with Certificate III as a minimum
• Experience in a similar role or responsibilities
• Previous Restaurant a la carte kitchen experience – events experience favourable
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast paced and high-volume environment
• Clear communication skills, effective listening skills
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team, including the ability to supervise and train others
• Must have working rights in Australia
