The Leading Hand is required to lead an on-site Work Team in the safe and efficient delivery of road maintenance and/or construction and Council’s Roads Infrastructure Capital Works and Maintenance programs.

Employment Status:  Full Time, Permanent

Award:                        Level 8 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017

Salary Range:            $2,437.00 Gross per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience within a leading hand role within a road construction or maintenance environment.
• Understanding of civil construction and maintenance techniques, including emerging practices and technologies.
• Sound numeracy and literacy skills, with an ability to operate basic computer and electronic devices.
• Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance, environmental and risk management systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices, with the ability to identify, resolve and report workplace health and safety issues appropriately.
• Experience within a Local Government environment.

• General Safety Induction Certificate (Construction Industry) Blue/White Card .
• Traffic Management Implementation accreditation.
• RII certificate of competency (or equivalent) to operate road construction machinery, plant and equipment such as: Front End Loader / Backhoe / Excavator / Skidsteer Loader / Compactor / Tractor/Slasher / Roller / Grader.

• Possession and maintenance of a Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.
