Your new role and how you’ll make a difference

As a Data Engineer in our Modelling team, you'll find yourself at a unique juncture where you can both contribute and grow. Positioned at the intersection of the business, data scientists and project teams, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing our data capabilities. While you will be thrown engaging challenges, you'll also be in an environment that values learning and mentorship, making it an ideal setting for those looking to solidify and expand their data engineering skills.

You’ll be part of a diverse team of data scientists working across multiple areas of the business. No two days are the same, and you’ll be thrown complex challenges to solve with speed and precision. Surrounded by experienced professionals, every challenge becomes a chance to learn and grow, setting a strong foundation for your building career.

The value-add things you’ll be doing

• Designing, constructing, and maintaining our data infrastructure, including data pipelines and our cloud-based data warehouse.
• Integrating heterogeneous data from both cloud and on-premises sources, pioneering the development of cutting-edge data products and functionalities.
• Writing and updating high quality code to solve core business objectives and reduce errors and risk.
• Championing team-wide improvements in data engineering capabilities through effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders

The experience and qualifications you’ll need to be successful 

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a commercial data engineering or closely related role
• Strong foundational knowledge of cloud platforms, with hands-on experience in AWS and/or Azure
• Demonstrated experience with leading cloud data warehouse platforms
• High level proficiency in writing code in Python 
• Expertise in SQL, inclusive of query optimization
• Proven track record in designing, sustaining, and overseeing data pipelines
• Working knowledge of serverless architectures
• Working knowledge of version control
• Comfortable with the software development lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Tech Stack:

• Specific AWS Services: Experience with particular AWS services, especially S3, Lambda, EC2, SQS, SageMaker, CodeCommit, CodeDevelopment, CodePipeline, CloudFormation, KMS, and IAM 
• Snowflake: Hands-on experience with the Snowflake platform
• Comfortable with Terraform
• Familiarity with Azure
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana, primarily for maintenance purposes
