About the role

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, the Senior Project Manager’s accountabilities and functions will include the management and delivery of the organisation’s project portfolios through effective coordination and delivery of the CAPEX and OPEX assets and infrastructure projects across the business. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading a small team of project supervisors to deliver the business’s project portfolio.
The Senior Project Manager will need to be adept at managing projects through the full project lifecycle from project inception to delivery and close out including capturing lessons learnt and feeding them back into the business to drive continued improvements in project delivery across the organisation.
The successful applicant will be required to deliver projects at each of the Southern Ports locations so flexibility to travel is required. The successful applicant would be located at any of the 3 regional ports. A relocation package will be provided.   
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver projects with adherence to project business case and justification
  • Design and management of project to assist the project objectives
  • Project manage and administer contracts for construction including performance of the role of Principal’s Representative and/or Superintendent
  • Ensures commissioning activities are well planned, developed, communicated, and executed efficiently
  • Regularly reports on project and program status to stakeholders.
  • Reports on and escalates to management any issues concerning the successful delivery of projects or work activities.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts between staff, consultants and contractors relating to projects
  • Effectively managing the risk exposure of the organisation, while generating innovative and cost effective operational improvements.
  • Ensure activities are conducted safely, consistent with SP policies and procedures.
  • Set clear performance standards (KPI’s) for the above accountabilities   
Experience and Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering / project management / science or equivalent (E)
  • 10-15 years’ experience in project management roles, applicants with greater experience levels than the minimum are encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of projects through the full project lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience in writing well justified project documentation
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a portfolio, or a number of projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of project management, planning, engineering, and infrastructure construction
  • Excellent computer and software skills (e.g. MS Project, MS Office, Financial Reporting, Doc control, etc)
  • Practical understanding of OH&S and Environmental management practices as they relate to the workplace

To be eligible for this full-time role, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
