Trainer and Assessor - Hospitality

Taminmin College

Primary Objective:  As a Trainer and Assessor you will be delivering training to students in years 9 to 12 who are completing qualifications as part of their schooling and working towards their Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCET). This training may occur across multiple campuses.  Part time position.

Context Statement:   Taminmin College is a large, comprehensive and complex Independent Public School that services the rural area of Darwin, catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The school operates a large farm, a successful Vocational Education and Training program as well as servicing special needs students through an on-site Special Education Centre. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitating the delivery of competence based training and assessment to VET in School Students including face to face delivery within the School environment.
  • Ensuring all RTO administration tasks pertaining to the course are completed in a timely manner including session plans, course preparation, assessment delivery plans, student records and final assessment documentation.
  • Continuously reviewing training and assessment resources to support delivery of accredited competencies and qualifications.
  • Maintaining professional development and industry currency.
  • Completing student reports.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  1. Relevant industry experience and trade level qualifications in the hospitality sector.
  2. Ability to contribute to the development of training and assessment resources.
  3. A passion for training and mentoring students.
  4. A sound understanding of the VET industry.
  5. High level organisation, time management and problem solving skills.
  6. Current Working with Children’s Clearance (OCHRE Card).
  7. Willingness to continue undertaking professional development internally or externally to maintain vocational currency.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  1. TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or) higher/ equivalent or willingness to obtain.
