About the role

We are seeking a People and Capability Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies, policies, and programs to attract, develop, and retain a high-performing workforce to support the strategic aims of the College. 

Reporting to the Chief Operating and Innovation Officer, you will partner with the business to assesses and anticipate HR-related needs, and through collaborative partnerships across the College deliver a value-added service that reflects the business objectives of the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with employment law and regulations and fostering a positive work culture that supports employee engagement and productivity. You will be responsible for:

  • Strategic and Business Partnering - Providing a professional, business-focused HR service, providing operational HR advice and serving as a strategic and operational partner to our leadership team, providing expert advice on people and capability matters and the development and implementation of HR programs.
  • Talent Acquisition and Recruitment - Developing and implementing recruitment strategies and overseeing the recruitment process, providing advice and support to managers throughout the recruitment process.
  • Employee Engagement and Wellbeing - Leveraging strategies to ensure an engaged workforce, promoting employee well-being initiatives and driving diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Acting as an independent advisor for employees in challenging situations and addressing people issues, concerns, and complaints.
  • Performance - Developing and implementing performance management systems and processes and providing day-to-day performance management guidance to managers.
  • HR Systems and Technology - Overseeing the selection, implementation, and optimisation of HR systems and technology solutions and collaborating with IT and vendors to ensure system security, data integrity, and smooth operation.
  • Employee Relations - Addressing employee relations issues, conduct investigations, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies. Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance 
  • Compensation and Benefits - Providing input into our Total Rewards Strategy and overseeing payroll processes in conjunction with the Finance function.
  • Policies and Procedures - Developing and maintaining and providing guidance on people policies and procedures that comply with relevant employment laws and regulations. Streamlining and simplify people processes to make them more efficient and employee friendly.

What you bring 

  • Proven experience in an HR leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to align HR initiatives with business goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and organizational development.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Mercer CED Job Evaluation certified (preferred).
  • Professional HR certification preferred.
