Treasury seeks to achieve value for money outcomes through the provision of expert financial, economic and resource management advice, helping the Government achieve its economic and fiscal objectives and ensuring the efficient delivery of priority public services and infrastructure that benefits all people in Western Australia.
We support the Treasurer, the Expenditure Review Committee, and Cabinet by providing solutions-focused policy advice. In doing so, we directly influence decisions impacting Western Australia’s economy, finances, society, and environment.

The five Western Australian port authorities play a critical role in facilitating trade and enabling the State to achieve its economic potential. This Principal Budget Analyst role works within Treasury’s Ports team, to monitor the budget and longer-term financial performance and to assess proposed initiatives, capital projects and resource allocations of the relevant port authorities.
This is for a Permanent Full-time opportunity; however part-time job share arrangements may be considered.

We are currently looking for a committed, task orientated person who is competent in using their analytical and conceptual skills.
This role requires a dedicated professional with capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and be thorough in providing timely and quality advice based on relevant data, evidence and research collected. You will use your ability to anticipate, analyse and evaluate information to guide you in providing solutions to current and emerging economic, financial, and social issues.
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is critical as you will be required to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of high-quality products and services. Having sound attention to detail with high standards of accuracy and efficiency will be highly regarded.
Your previous work experience in and/or knowledge of budgeting, accounting and financial management processes will be an advantage for this role.
Appointment to this position is based on the applicant’s capacity to undertake the role at the level required and commensurate with the Treasury Capability Framework.
This process may be used to fill any similar permanent or fixed term opportunities (full-time or part-time) at this level that may arise in the next 12 months across Treasury and the wider WA public sector.
