Quality Manager

We have an opportunity for a Quality Manager to be part of our South Australian Research Development Institute within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Quality Manager is responsible to the Manager, Seed Services, for ensuring the quality systems across Seed Services are maintained at a high level with a particular focus on the day-to-day management of the seed certification program. The Quality Manager will coordinate the crop application process for Seed Services Australia's national seed certification program, SureSeed Program and Spring Lucerne Crop Pathology inspection programs; ensuring all applications are accurately allocated to the requested field inspection service.

In this role, the Quality Manager must ensure all new varieties, new sowings and existing perennial crops are eligible to be inspected in the required seed schemes necessitating close liaison with proprietary owners, plant breeders, seed company production managers and the Executive Officer of the Australian Seeds Authority.

The Quality Manager will instigate the review, update and when required development of new procedures or SOPs for the administration, certification and testing sections of the business. Works collaboratively with laboratory personnel in the preparation for the ISTA audits ensuring that issues raised at the audits are addressed and the accreditation is maintained. The Quality Manager will be responsible for the preparation, audit day contact and the respond to corrective actions raised during NATA audits to make sure accreditation is maintained.

The Quality Manager will have an active role with the administrative section of Seed Services managing the administrative team confirming that the samples are entered in a timely accurate manner and checking the invoicing making sure that the fees being charged to clients are accurate and bad debtors followed up on a regular basis.

Special Conditions

Requirements
The position is based at the Plant Research Centre, Urrbrae, but may be required to move elsewhere in the Adelaide Metropolitan area.

  • Out of hours work may be required.

Remuneration
ASO5 - $84,522 min - $94,003 max per annum plus superannuation
