How you’ll make a difference

You will work with all stakeholders to achieve exceptional outcomes through the delivery of Council and planning projects and ensure that the requirements of the Alpine Planning Scheme, the Local Government Act 2020, the Planning and Environment Act 1987, and other related legislation are met for all strategic planning matters.

Your duties will include:

• Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to help develop planning policy and strategies to implement the team’s strategic work program.
• Progress work on planning policy, controls and strategic planning projects in coordination with the team.
• Provide strategic planning advice and drive project outcomes with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Understand and interpret planning controls, legislation and policy, and how it is implemented.
• Work with technical information or data, and a wide range of engineering disciplines to provide high level urban design or master planning insight.
• Support the Strategic Planning Coordinator.

Our Strategic Work Program is full of interesting projects and, as a Senior Strategic Planner, you will get to meet and learn from everyone at Council. You will have lots of opportunities to broaden your leadership skills, and your knowledge of strategic planning and local government.

With your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to work with your colleagues and staff to ensure positive outcomes. You can multi-task, prioritise, meet deadlines, and use technology and software solutions to get your job done well. 

You will be well organised and value attention to detail. With your excellent communication skills, you will be able to develop positive relationships that result in better outcomes. As an industry professional, you will have a good working knowledge of the applicable legislation and an understanding of enforcement and prosecution procedures.

You will also have:

• Tertiary qualifications in town planning or a related discipline;
• Relevant experience in a similar role, coupled with significant work skills;
• Strong stakeholder management experience;
• Occupational Health and Safety General Induction ticket for entry to construction sites;
• Flexible options, such as starting early or late or working some days from home, are available.
• A driver’s licence; and
• An energetic and engaging personality

• Full-Time permanent position based in Bright, Victoria.
• Salary negotiable for the right candidate, based on Band 7 classification, from $99,086 per annum inclusive of 11% Superannuation and leave loading.
