ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Group Manager of Land, Environment, & Hazardous Facilities, you will form a valuable part of our environmental Team. 

Covering the ANZ region, the Principal Environmental Advisor will maintain and continuously improve the management of this critical portfolio for the JJs Group of Companies. 

You will get the opportunity to work within exciting and diverse range of operations including waste collection, transport, hazardous waste aggregation and treatment, composting and soil conditioner manufacturing, land application of organic fertilisers, waste disposal and resource recovery facilities. 

Hybrid role - can be based from any of JJ's sites across Australia.  Travel will be required (Australia and New Zealand).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct regular site reviews to monitor the Company’s compliance with legislative requirements and build the knowledge and capability of our operational teams.
• Develop, maintain and implement environmental management systems to ensure compliance is maintained with legislative requirements and the conditions of our regulatory approvals. 
• Investigate and advise on appropriate responses to reportable environmental incidents
• Develop and implement strategies to seize opportunities relating to emissions disclosure requirements. 
• Develop, update, and deliver national activity specific training modules relating to environmental compliance.
• Work with a wide range of stakeholders to prepare applications and negotiate conditions relevant to environmental approvals
• Facilitate the establishment of new or expanded facilities or to improve the efficiency of our operations.

ABOUT YOU

• Tertiary Studies in an Environmental Field
• Significant experience and progression in similar industry roles
• A thorough and genuine communication style
• A willingness to commit to regular interstate travel
• Heavy industry experience - preferred
• A strong attention to detail  
• A genuine desire to be involved, connected, and making a difference.
