Created in 1972 under the Victorian Conservation Trust Act 1972 (Vic), Trust for Nature has a proud history of working across the government, not-for profit and private sectors to achieve permanent protection of important conservation land across Victoria.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an identified role open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander only.

Reporting initially to the Chief Executive Officer this is a newly created and evolving leadership role that will help establish authentic partnerships and business relationships with Traditional Custodians/Owners so that caring for Country can include two ways of working aligned to the organisation’s strategic direction, vision, values and goals. This pivotal role will help the Trust embed cultural practices alongside western science and ensure that Traditional Custodians/Owners are involved in private land conservation.

This role offers a full-time base salary range of $131,273 – 153,470 p.a., plus superannuation, offer will be commensurate with experience.

This is a 12-month fixed term full time position (open to part time). The role is based in Melbourne CBD with opportunity for flexibility and remote work arrangements.

ABOUT YOU 

We are searching for an experienced leader who brings;

  • Knowledge of Aboriginal land management issues in Victoria
  • Outstanding stakeholder relationship skills both internally and externally with experience in successfully negotiating to drive outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve project outcomes
  • High level organisational, problem solving and negotiation skills, including ability to deal with cross cultural issues and an ability to build and maintain effective networks and relationships with peers
  • High level project management skills and experience including planning, budgeting, reporting and database management
  • High level of written and verbal communication
