About the Role

This role is responsible for contributing to the Investment Research service provided to the Financial Advisers within the Centrepoint Alliance group. Key responsibilities include researching a range of different types of investment products across all asset classes incorporating both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The individual will be involved in the construction process of the model portfolios including asset allocation and manager selection. The role will entail the presentation of research efforts to financial advisers via a number of formats including written reports, webinars or live presentations.

The individual will make contributions to the Research team’s financial market and macroeconomic updates and outlook and the presentation of this in a format suitable for financial advisers and retail clients

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Research Investment Managers across all asset classes incorporating qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Portfolio construction including asset allocation, style analysis and manager selection.
  • Research of a wide range of product types including unlisted managed funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), Exchange Traded Managed Funds, Listed Investment Companies (LICs), Listed Investment Trusts (LITs) and Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs).
  • Research of specialist products of a technical nature including Structured Products, Annuities and Platforms.
  • Producing written research reports for financial advisers and retail clients on a range of investment topics including individual investment products, asset classes, financial markets, macroeconomic and geopolitical issues and model portfolios.
  • Producing and presenting PowerPoint presentations on a range of investment topics to audiences of financial advisers and retail clients. These will include live presentations and webinars.
  • Develop and produce economic charts and models for internal use and for presentations. 
  • Ability to generate tactical asset allocation ideas models.
  • Ability to generate dynamic asset allocation ideas and models. 
  • Addressing queries from financial advisers on a range of investment issues via telephone and email.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and updating of Research department policy and procedure documents.
  • Assisting with commercial arrangements and documentation for agreements between Centrepoint Alliance and financial advisers, research houses and data providers.
  • Assisting with the development of implemented portfolios on externally managed platforms.
  • Assisting with portfolio trades on various external platforms.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce or a related disciplines
  • CFA, Masters or CIMA qualification (desirable)
  • Experience and knowledge with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Morningstar Direct, iRate  or Factset 
  • Portfolio construction and optimisation skills
  • Strong operational and technical knowledge of investment platforms, SMAs and Managed Accounts
  • In depth knowledge of technical investment products including Structured Products and Annuities
  • Ability to investigate and quickly gain an understanding of new subject matter of a technical nature
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills 
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel (Visual Basic coding desirable)
  • Excellent relationship development and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience partnering with third party suppliers
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work independently
