What will I contribute? 

On our large table grape and citrus farm, you will be responsible for crop and plant health, in order to achieve production, quality, and cost targets. You will work closely with the management team to ensure the day-to-day running of the farm.

Here’s what you’ll be doing: 

• Instruct, manage, and inspect employees and contractors responsible for the execution of each of the following tasks:
  • Irrigation
  • Fertigation
  • Spray Programs
  • Pruning
  • Harvest
  • Machine Operation and Maintenance
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities on all aspects of day-to-day farming operations.
• Confer with management to report conditions, plan planting, harvesting schedules and to discuss changes in fertilizer, herbicides or cultivating techniques.
• Liaise with service providers where necessary.
• Estimate harvest dates and crop volume.
• Inspect farm facilities to determine maintenance needs.
• Review employees work to ascertain quality and quantity of work performed.
• Complete daily stock reconciliation movements.
• Read inventory records, customer orders and shipping schedules to ascertain day’s activities. 

What do I need for the role? 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, within a horticulture environment.
• Relevant Bachelor qualification in Horticulture, Agronomy, Science, or related disciple.
• Significant experience with grape and citrus crops and crop management strategies.
• Chem Cert Australia Accreditation (preferred.)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Well-developed time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Commitment to delivering a high level of service.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on the ability to deal with a variety of variables.
