Bunnamagoo Estate Wines, part of the Paspaley Pearling Group, seeks a full-time Assistant Winemaker for its modern, 700-tonne winery, located on its Eurunderee property, in Mudgee NSW.  

The role of Assistant Winemaker is a key supporting role to the Senior Winemaker and is responsible for overseeing all winemaking processes from harvest to bottle, ensuring all procedures and processes are continually improved to optimise quality and efficiency.

Role specifics:

  • Assist in managing all operations involved in the winemaking process including, grape sourcing, grower liaison, record keeping, strategic planning, crush/vintage formulation, winemaking techniques, blending, maturation, filtering and bottling.
  • Oversee all maintenance and hygiene of the winemaking facility.
  • Identify, review, and develop where required, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure winery operations are conducted in a safe manner and in line with Bunnamagoo Estate’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure winemaking procedures are designed to deliver quality and efficiency.
  • Assist with wine marketing and sales, both on and off-site as required.
  • Operate as an advocate for Bunnamagoo wines and brands to raise the profile of Bunnamagoo overall.
  • Assist in educating Cellar Door and Wholesale sales teams on Bunnamagoo wines, and wine styles generally.
  • Organise Wine Show entries and oversee implementation from entry to dispatch.
  • Manage packaging and bottling.
  • Maintain relevant records and information in the Bunnamagoo Ezywine system.
  • Assist with the forecast and management of winery staff, including seasonal staff.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals.
  • Actively contribute to the strategy and direction of Bunnamagoo Wines.
  • Ensure compliance of the Bunnamagoo winery team to Bunnamagoo and Paspaley policies and procedures including WH&S.

Essential to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in winemaking (or close to complete)
  • Minimum 5-years experience employed in a winery
  • Operating knowledge of Ezywine
  • Current forklift license (valid for NSW)
  • Can-do attitude, impeccable organisation, and cleanliness.
  • Personality conducive to a being ‘team player’
